Lynn Grimm, PT, Dip. MDT

Owner, Grimm Physical Therapy

Lynn has lived in the New Orleans area since she attended Newcomb College in 1977. She was a member of Tulane's NCAA Division I swimming and diving team while there.  Lynn fell in love with New Orleans and decided to stay after college. Lynn has been practicing physical therapy for 29+ years in the greater New Orleans area and has worked in many teaching hospitals including Tulane Medical Center, Touro Infirmary, and Charity Hospital where she specialized in in-patient and out-patient orthopedics.  She served as a Clinical Instructor to many physical therapy students throughout the years. Lynn is currently in the international diploma program, attaining the highest level of education in the McKenzie Method. These clinicians  have the knowledge, skills and confidence to deliver better patient outcomes, and are typically highly regarded within their local communities as Clinicians who get the best results for their patients. She enjoys spending time with her family including her sons Taylor, Brendan, and daughter Mary as well as her husband of 30 years, Matt.

Lynn decided to open Grimm Physical Therapy because she is passionate about physical therapy and wants to be able to treat her patients one on one without the constraints of what the insurance company think is appropriate. She also wants the flexibility to spend more time with her patients than conventional out-patient PT clinics that require you to see more than one patient at a time or for 20 minutes only.

Lynn is currently crazy about all things CrossFit and has been crossfitting for over 4 years. She is a proponent of the "Paleo" lifestyle and encourages everyone to adopt healthier nutrition as part of their recovery and prevention of future medical problems. She has always been a New Orleans Saints fan and is so happy to have traded the "Aint's" for the Superbowl Champions.

ABOUT

Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) is a philosophy of active patient involvement and education that is trusted and used by practitioners and patients worldwide for back, neck and extremity problems. A proven methodology, the McKenzie Method (MDT) is a non-invasive, self-directed treatment that provides fast and effective relief, even for chronic pain. It promotes the body’s potential to heal itself without medication, heat, cold, ultrasound, needles, surgery or endless visits to the clinic. An evidence based approach, the key distinction of MDT is its initial assessment component – a safe and reliable means to accurately reach a diagnosis and only then make the appropriate treatment plan. Certified McKenzie Clinicians and those who hold a diploma in MDT, like Lynn Grimm, have valid indicators to know right away whether – and uniquely how – MDT will work for each patient.

Strategy

Grimm Physical Therapy specializes in the McKenzie Method which encourages active patient participation and education for back, neck and extremity issues.  Most low back, neck pain and extremity pain  can be rapidly decreased and abolished using self-generated movement.  We encourage you and teach you how to treat your own pain and will also teach you how to prevent it from returning in the future.
